The DX80 is available at Audiogarden.fr. I know these guys (website and their shop in Paris) and they can be trusted. Personally I'm going to demo the DX80 at Audiogarden next week.

What they state on their homepage:

Disponibilité : En réappro // En test à la boutique
Availability date: 2015-11-24

It's available for demoing at the shop and will be available for purchase on Tuesday. Maybe I'll give it a go!

Yes, they had the DX80 for demo since the end of september. It was in stock for a very short time few days ago, and will be available again in few days.

I don't get it, the DX90 performs better at the same price. The DX80 is neutral with quite congested soundstage. There is not much Hi-Fi about this player, it just plays well, nothing more. Holography and positioning is rather poor in my opinion (even the DX50 is better at this point). I think it was a bad idea to take the Cirrus. Audiophile sounding is warm, analog, natural, not the digital-synthetic one with its artificial dryness... The DX80 is a development in technical sense but it's not in audio respect. No CTIA compatibility, no WiFi in times when you buy very good smartphone for about $180!? Oh come on, stop this bull*** about huge costs of audio chips which in fact cost about $10. Let's dismantle the DX80, how much is it? I know, you won't say.
Sorry, but I'm really annoyed that you went in the Cirrus which means synthetic neutrality and not spacious, natural and rich sound like the Sabre does.

Very true that the DX90 is not the DX80. They sound different. We have advanced the sound and the DX80 performs to higher standards at a lower price. This is advancement.

Paul, could you tell us how the volume control is implemented? It seems it is not digital, not via DAC... Could you shed some light?

The volume is dac based. It increases .5 db at a time.

Couldn't resist Lol.

But in all honesty, I've had available hard time wanting to upgrade from my 5.5G iMod, with a Wolfson. But I definitely want to give the DX80 and DX90 a shot if I could indeed a place near me (Washington DC) with them.

I did the same, gave it a shot. I believed in iBasso, but I'm really disappointed. The DX80 is bright, dull... this is not an audiophile sounding. Audiophiles and audio enthusiasts love analog, vinyl... Synthetic dryness? Like shoot in the foot in DAP audio world...

4th day I'm listening DX80 (after 1.5 years of DX90), mostly hi-res vinyl rips, and I really enjoy its sound!
