iBasso DX50 MODS
Sep 11, 2015 at 6:19 AM Post #256 of 378
First try out some babs recommendations! Don`t start to invent bicycle again
I`m probably going to try out ADA4897-1ARZ sometime in future.

I allready tryed that, and had problems after few days...rembember the right channel popping!I sent the unit to ibasso, and they replaced the ada amps with the stock ones, they said that the right channel one was dead or something.they charge 10 usd for everything,so postal taxes and time worth more than that.i was asking about opa1611 as dx90 have them, and fiio x5 also!!!maybe babs can tell us what we get and what we have to loose!

LOL! Sorry, but You and modifications (done by yourself) don`t go hand-by-hand

Are You saying that babs recommended HO opamps (ADA-4897-1ARZ - that work well for him!) cause problems after few days? I think no!
Sorry to say this, but I think You don`t have enough skills to do these modifications and no idea what exactly You are doing.

Now, stop "insulting" babs for Your mistakes!
No-one asked You to do these modifications and if modifications aren`t handled out with care, then things can go wrong.
Funny that it`s only You in this thread having problems all the time

did I blame babs???NO!I did almost everything babs did...don't have a clue why that ada amp died, that's what ibasso team told me that causes the problem!maybe it was bad luck with one amp unit!they just pit stock ones back, and everything was fine!
did I said that I did the mods by myself???NO,once again!!!yes,I don't have enough skills, this is why I always solder and repair what I know I can to right...for example,I have repaired and replaced a lot on a pcb from a jbl e250 sub...modded creative sound card...etc
I can always replace the sctock amps with ada ones,my question was if the opa 1611 is a better choice, since dx90 and fiio x5 have them inside!!!
you're giving me the same answer every time, even if I write you the same things over and over again, that I did not modd is by myself, and I did not blame babs or you,or the guy who solder them...even babs said that ADA-4897-2ARZ was soldered good, and that's a tough one, also his words!!!
I had a problem, and I'm not the only one...there are people who had problems even with stock unit,so I'm not the only one.still,my problem is solved since few moths,I'm just looking for another solution.do I have to change my nickname so you can answer me like you do to all other people???

Calm down.

It`s just the way You write and say things.
  did I blame babs???

Not directly... but...

Sound pretty accusing to me

But sorry if I misunderstood. Maybe choose/write Your words more carefully?
don't have a clue why that ada amp died, that's what ibasso team told me that causes the problem

For example would have been nice to start with saying that.

I had a problem, and I'm not the only one...there are people who had problems even with stock unit,so I'm not the only one.

We are talking about modified unit and modifications NOT stock DX50 - different things, different threads.

ok..maybe this time I make myself clear!
I DID NOT MODD MY DX50 BY MYSELF,A FRIEND DID THAT.HE HAS A REPAIR PHONE SHOP
I DO NOT BLAME SOMEONE FOR WHAT WENT WRONG WITH MY UNIT
I HAVE REPAIRED MY UNIT AT IBASSO,THE FAULT WAS ONE OF THE ADA HO AMPS
I WANT TO REPLACE THE STOCK HO AMPS WITH SOMETHING ELSE,MAYBE ADA AGAIN,BUT I'M ALSO INTERESTED IN OPA1611 FOUND ON DX90 AND FIIO X5
THANK YOU BABS FOR THIS THREAD!!!

Again, will opa 1611 be a better choice than what babs used for HO??babs, have you tried opa1611 before ada amps???can you explain what we could gain, and loose with opa1611??since you know best what you're doing I'm sure you can explain this to us!!thank you

I didn't test the OPA1611,( too much work for changing these OP )
But they seem OK for the application
I choose the ADA4897 mainly for their output current drive power; 80mA (vs less than 40mA for the OPA)
I have low impedance IEM, so the current drive of the amps is important for me
The ADA is designed to work with a 100ohms load, for the OPA, there is nothing specified under 2Kohms

And spec-wise, the ADA is much better than the OPA, except for the input bias current

Anyway, the only way to really test the sound quality of the OPA is to try it...

yes,of course....the best way is to test them!

really don't know what to choose,as iem's will always be no more than 32ohms for me and the ones I want now, have 150mw input power....jvc fxz2000,and I don't understand how will they work with ibasso dx50.my actual headphones have 250mw input power
the stock amps data sheet will be helpful to check
thank you babs...if you could explain me this thing with iems and input power, how does it work....I'll thank you again! :)

you could always send ibasso team a message with you're problem!I had more serious problems than yours, and they are really helpful!I'm sure they will send you the original part, and charge you not more than 5$ including the postal taxes,as they charge 10$ for any kind of repair (I don't know about the screen cost).the harder part is time,it will take more than 2 weeks, but that's how things are with China!you cand also ask them if what you found is the same slide, and tell them that is faster that way!good luck

Thk for the info shagrathborgir! I have just drop them an email regarding the lock button (slide switch) and to check with them if it is the same version as the one that I have found if it is made by Copal electronics. :)

Hi All. Here I discovered MAL203854331E3 Vishay 330uF 10V caps were best for replacement. But unfortunately they were... discontinued. :frowning2: I can't find them in any web shop close to me. Anybody had tested more caps? What about Panasonic AM 330uF 10V ECA1AAM331X, NHG series ECA1AHG331? United Chemi-Con EKMG100ELL331MF11D? Nichicon UVZ1A331MED1TD? Jamicon TKR331M1CF11? All of them have size 6.3x11 mm. But what about sound quality?... And Rubicon 10ZLH330MEFC6.3X11? They can fit too. But sound??

I wanna replace to 330 uF only for lower frequency filtering.

---

Looks like replacement of Vishay MAL203854331E3 is MAL214254331E3. But I even can't find them in store.

---

Did not find 330 uF 10V Vishay, ordering 220uF... :-\  MAL203854221E3 is this right?
