You can try but giving the current situation, it might take a while.can't wait for the audio reviews and tear down of the DAP. I would like to know if the new audio buffers sound better or worse.BT is terrible for real on the original version. I just tried it in my car for the first time. connects, then disconnects right away and the cycle continues. should I send it back since it's under warranty still? Love the sound to death though.
Well im sure the sucky wifi and BT will be a welcome observation for people already having the 2019 editionWell, fellow Headfiers... The 2020 black unit I ordered on April's Fool Day arrived yesterday from Shenzen via Hong Kong in a week (two days before the due date) with some extra 12€ Express DHL !
Whoa, M*F* ! Mind you: I'm not going to allow my judgement to take any important role here for I'm new to the forums, and coming from a "humble" (cracked) FiiO M6 - the Good Lil' person as I call it, which still packs superb value for the money - but yet, the step up in quality was almost too obvious.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi range is sub-par if you compare it to a smartphone (as expected), and actually worse than the FiiO M6, but still decent.
The volume dial... A little on the cheap side if you ask me, especially compared to the rest of the build, which is excellent for the price.
Screen is just unreal for a DAP (this 1080p 2020 Japan Display is said to be slightly worse than the previous Sharp: y-e-a-h, well I'm not complaining, on the very opposite...!), and the glass / aluminum body along with the shaping makes up for good handling and touch feeling.
As for the sound. My oh my. Night and day compared to the M6. Engaging yet very detailed in comparison: reaching out to slap a mid-tier dedicated desktop amp. Dynamic, fast and punchy, with a good stage and presentation. Only tested with B&W PX and Meze 99 Classics so far (the latter truly shining when plugged to the balanced output).
Enough said: again, I'm far from being an expert. But I had to share my two cents about this beauty.
Sadly, I can't make any comparison to the 2019 unit.
Now off to messing with different firmwares! Lurker first, I guess. The standard OS is already more than just ok, by the way (installing and running Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Sonos, Neutron as a default player and more was simply a breeze!).
What does it say on the back of the player? 2019 or 2020?Just received the black DX160 2020 version from Hifigo. But on the box and inside the box didn't say anything about 2020. I don't know its the real 2020 version or not. First time i bought from that site.
you meant this one ?What does it say on the back of the player? 2019 or 2020?
Yes, that is the 2020 version. Otherwise it would have 2019.you meant this one ?
you meant this one ?
I see. Thanks alot.Yes, that is the 2020 version. Otherwise it would have 2019.
Nope, this my first dx160. I used to own dx150, dx200 and dx220. Honestly I just bought it to stack with my hugo2. I bought the R5 before but the amazon music on that dap was really suck. And the screen is too small to touch. This dx160 is really nice. I will listen to it with my a18t sometime today. Now its charging lolz.Looks like 2020, have you heard the 2019? Looking forward to reading your impressions regardless.
