Now that I have some free cash, and an Amazon Gift Certificate, I am wondering, should I buy a iAudio X5? I currently use the iPod 4G 30GB Photo. I am wondering if this unit has a considerably different sound than the iPod. While the iPod is somewhat flat/neutral, is the iAudio better for bass? If not, what are the major SQ differences?

Those of you who own both, please share your experiences.

The X5's support of more file formats is what does it for me. I own a Rio Karma, a 3G 40GB iPod and a Rio Carbon. My X5 rivals the Karma in sound quality. The iPod sounds flat to me as well. I use Etymotic ER-6i IEMs.

The color screen and video playback capabilities of the X5 are just an added bonus. I would say go for it as far as looking for a great sounding DAP.

My player is also excellent, the amount of sound options is great! From the MP Enhance, to the 3D surround and Mach3Bass. While i dont know what any of these mean, if you tweak them for a while you will find a very nice sweet spot. I couldn't be happier with my X5 (aside from the fact i caved and bought a 20gb instead of 30gb)
