I want to learn more about audiophiliac stuff, please?

Well, i just want to learn more about the audiophile basics. Perhaps specifics on sound signatures, and impedance (i know a little 'bout it.) and everything else i would need to know to be competent in the audiophiliac world. though to hassle, i just need basics.

You have to post 10 million times, make 1.5 million reviews and make your headphones and multi driver IEMs with your own hands. You also have to attend to the Head-Fi school of objectiveness for 2 years.

Oh, didn't I say what the gift is? It varies based on availability and what the hot 'phone is at the time. Some folks have said they received anything from a Sennheiser Orpheus, Audeze LCD-3, Abyss, Fostex TH900,Stax SR-009, etc...

What do headfiers mean by tonality?
 
My understanding is that this is a music theory term but it probably means something else here.

lol - almost all of the descriptions of sound used on audio forums are very imprecise and downright confusing. You are likely to get 10 different explanations from 10 different people. Those that have been trained in music theory will probably give the correct answer - but there is no guarantee the average head-fier uses the term the same way. That's why this list was created:

However, who the heck knows if the person making a review has read that FAQ.

Here's what I do: There are certain head-fi reviewers that have written about many different headphones, for example:

I read his reviews for the headphones I have also personally listened to. If I agree with what has been said on the headphones I know, then I can have some confidence in what is being said about headphones I have NOT heard.

Now, I realize this only works if you have had the opportunity to listen to headphones that have been reviewed. That, of course, takes time and effort.
