Most of the bashing I hear about I tunes is usually factually incorect. It will be interesting to put this to a wider audience.

I cannot for the life of me see why Itunes stops people buying an Ipod.

Because using Itunes is like being in Gutanamo Bay. Apples takes away your liberty...

That's why I never buy Apple.

I've disliked iTunes for quite some time. I tried it when I first got my iPod (I'm still running a 4th gen. black and white screen 20 gig that I wish would die so I could justify getting a new player) and back then it's sluggishness was ridiculous, and not all of my music was uniform so I hated all the time it spent converting wmas into mp3s and adding them to the iTunes music folder so I ended up with all sorts of duplicates and what not. (I now no longer have wmas but it annoyed me back then.)
I still think that it draws far too much from your system resources, and yes it's no problem on modern systems, but I still think that that is no reason to make it bloated. I also hate how frequently it updates and that there is no way to patch it, you simply have to download the entire 70 Mb executable for every update, rather than a small 1-2 Mb patch. I hate that it has 4 background processes for one program. And probably my biggest issue with it comes from my job. I do software maintenance and upgrading on a college campus, and a faculty member requests iTunes so we have to install it on all 800 machines we manage. I have spent countless hours fighting with iTunes to deploy it to these machines, and have simply found no way to do it in a simple manner like almost all of our other 60 software packages work. It irritates me to no end that a media player takes more time to update and deploy than it does to update and deploy math, physics, statistics, and a myriad of other much more powerful applications.

I only got itunes for the genius feature but dont like everything else about it. Takes forever to boot up, if my external changes hardrive letter i have to re-recoginize everything for the library. And i really like the minimize of WMP wish it had that too. Having it in the tool bar and being able to skip using that is nice.

iTunes is epic fail for me. So slow, takes like 2 secs to open. Then I see that I have 3 of the same song for some STUPID reason, then it duplicates all my albums and I can't take songs from my iPod onto my computer. Sometimes it doesn't even recognize my iPod touch and I have to go Services and restart the Apple Mobile Device thingo. WinAMP is even worse, doesn't even load, WMP ftw haha. No I don't have a bad computer at all, i7 at 4ghz, Windows 7 with a SSD which is 60% full. iTunes has been bad even on XP,I just hate it, end of story. "You get what you pay for" springs to mind. I get iTunes for nothing, it's worth nothing and does nothing right
