Exactly. It's sad that the reviewer from Stereophile ran the SR71 out of the iPod Mini's headphone out. If he had used a line out like the pocketdock or ram din, he would have had a nice clean signal out to the amp and may have been even more impressed.

I'm listening to my newly acquired SR-71 (received yesterday

) and I can tell you that the difference (SR-71 through line out v. ampless through iPod headphone jack) is quite remarkable.

And, though it's been said a gazillion times before, Ray's stuff is just so exceptionally well conceived, designed and manufactured. Awesome.

His Ram Din has a built in male mini plug, so no need for an additional cable. My Sik Din had a female mini termination, so I used a mini to mini cable for a while until switching to a Xin right angle mini/mini adapter, which worked like a charm.

Heh, I bet people are going to ask you how the SR-71 holds up against the HeadCode. I'm kinda interested, too

Just noticed that you use the SR-71 with your HD-25....how does it sound?

Is there a huge difference between that vs. out of the ipod headphone jack?

virometal and I are having a mini-meet this weekend and that will be one of the comparisons that will undoubtedly occur.
