Guys, anyone who owns an SR80 or 60 or anything, PLEASE listen to Brothers on a Hotel Bed by Death Cab For Cutie. I swear i've never been provoked by music so strongly. Sorry for making a thread about this, but i discovered again how powerful music can be.

Don't apologize. That's what this hobby is all about.

And I will absolutely check out the Death Cab.

It's always such a treat to experience audio epiphanies like this (natch). Glad you had one, klamP! I've been a DCFC follower since their first album, and I honestly feel like they started losing something after their Forbidden Love EP (though they're still a fine outfit, don't get me wrong). My latest epiphany came with hearing Alopecia by Why? for the first time. Fresh, challenging, and boundary-blurring stuff.

DCFC and Postal Service are awesome. That whole album (Plans) was great. I, too agree that their latest stuff lack some of their usual "substance." Maybe I just need a couple more listens...

I'd kill to see them make another postal service cd. I love every single song on Give Up.

Listening to Postal Service right now with my RS-1s and getting full body shivers. Never given Death Cab for Cutie a serious listen. Is it very similar? Worth picking up?

Though not exactly the same, I find The Notwist to fit the same sorts of moods and provoke a similar response. Really hard to say which I like better.

I'm going to go down there tomorrow morning and buy a pair. Thanks for the heads-up!

Are you using bowls or flats on your RS-1?

The new track Grapevine Fires absolutely destroys me everytime I listen to it. Especially if you've got some headphones with really nice mids. Fantastic goosebump inspiring track.

The vocalist in TPS is the vocalist from DCFC. TPS is a collaboration between Ben Gibbard (i.e. the vocalist) and James Tamborello (i.e. the backing beats his other band/moniker is DNTEL).

i actually love their newest album, narrow stairs, which came out this summer. I love that it is more powerful and more instrumental than their other albums.

Before Narrow Stairs, I liked the postal service more. Now, i'd not hesitate to say DCFC.
