I think it is time for a portable digital headphone amp.

I just checked the description, and it says nothing about being a digital amplifier. I've not heard a digital amp, so don't know what kind of sound they impart--I aught to seek out somebody w/ one of those Kenwood DAPs, maybe.

However, it would then still require something else portable to have support for being a digital transport, wouldn't it?

edit: I also don't see any digital amp at Red Wine's site...

Class D=Digital
I think the problem with this right now, is there is only one DAP that has an optical output and its discontinued. I suppose you could design one based on the T-Amp?

This statement is pretty much wrong on every account.
A. The Crimson is a DAC not an amp
B. It isn't portable.
C. It has a tubed output stage/ not class D
D: It cost 8000 dollars...

There is a version with preamp/headphone amp built in, but I still dont completely follow your train of thought.
