Hello,
I recently purchased an I-HP 120,not being much of a tech head,I am happy with it.I use it with a pair of Ety 4 S(thinking about modifying them to Ety 4P with adaptor P/S for road),I use it at home with Headroom Cosmic amp,on the road just the IHP 120,with Ety 4S(to be P soon as the S version is not loud enough for the road) or Shure E1,OK but not great,(older version of E3)I would like to have more bass out of the Ety 4 S,but not just a bass hump(or Shure E3) like a loudness control but more of 30 hertz to 6O hertz,I know the Etys have it in them,I put a test wave tone through them,I am using the I-HP120 /SRS/WOW with bass boost of 60HZ at a volume of 5,but that is not deep enough and sounds a bit strange to me,more like an artificial hump. All my tracks are in WAV or at MP3 320.Any ideas on how to do this, software or parametric software out there I could use with the I-river(download into it)or my computer or make a circuit?I guess the alternative would be better earphones such as UE5 or UE10.I guess I am trying to get the hi-fi sound out of my home rig, nearly impossible, see my profile but I find myself more and more on the road for work.MANY THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS.My first post.
Jordan.

bass? here's my frequency response chart for the ihp120.

i think if you add an amp to your portable rig, then run it with the er4p converted to s would yield better bass response.

The Ety's however seem to be notorious for their lacking bass without amping.

Though Ety's are nice...they are your problem for what your looking for.

Shure E5's or the UE's as you mention (or Sensa's) will move the bass response in the right direction. You should be able to achieve the bass you want WITHOUT funky EQ's or worse yet, bass boost.

Try your rig with good full size headphones that you're happy with (prefereably low impedance). If are getting the bass you want at "neutral" settings, you can probably duplicate that success in a canalphone depending upon how much you're willing to spend.

Does that mean that the entire low frequency range is well within the H120's low frequency extension? That's pretty good, right?

Ya might want to stop using that hideous joke of an effect..the SRS WoW stuff is GARBAGE. Especially when applied to a nice clean .wav..that's like sacrilidge man ! What r u thinkin ?

Just use the regular EQ and adjust the bass/treble yourself, it will sound a hell of a lot more natural. I've NEVER found a use for that SRS crap..sounds like something that should be used for an example of what one should NOT aspire to sound wise.

well no, thats horrible actaully. it mean there is a bass roll off for the player at below 100hz (cant reproduce the low bass too well). you would want the frequency repsonse to be flat (as close to 0db as possible to reproduce accurate sound). but, freq testing only tell a little about the sound quality of the player.

actually srs works great with my car adapater. it gets rid of the hiss and static, but i do lose a bit of the clarity and bass.

i guess "normal" is the best. i use it most of the time, esp with my amp.

maybe i should try experimenting with a little more bass and treble for "user eq"...

well ok, i think my chart is misleading and i shouldnt post it. that was the line out and i was making a joke at iriver's sound quality. i never did a test on the headphone out. the iriver right already have a good amount of bass through the headphone out, turning up rock EQ doesnt simply do that, would just take away from details. these charts dont say everything about the true sound. from what i know the etymotic have very light bass to start with.
