HI: I received my JMT PIMETA plus elpac 24 volt wal-wart about 2 hours ago. JMT did an exceptional job on this amp. It looks great and is very well made. The sound really surprised me. There is lots of air and space in that the amp presents a very large sound stage with really great separation. The bass is full with tight slam with a balanced sound in the bass, mids, highs. The first thing I noticed besides the bass was the cymbals. They are sharp and clear with a very nice long decay. I have the volume at 10-10/30 and thats loud for me. This is a great bang for the buck amp that is very well made with JMTs best stuff for a PIMETA amp. At this price this amp is a great deal. I first listened to Karen carpenter and she sounded very clear and present with emotion in her voice. Boy can this girl sing. Also the back ground music was a real treat. Then of course I put PINK FLOYD echos and had sound all around me. The guitar was sharp and clear and carried its notes to a full extent and the mixing was just great. And when the drums kicked in it was sharp tight and slam. The cymbals were just always present it seems and the whole experience was just great. A very good amp for the small amount of money that it cost.

HI: How are you? Sorry but you will have to ask JMT about his prices. This is a standard with JMT.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your new amp. Especially since I'm in the process of ordering up parts to build my own Pimeta.

What opamps did you get? Are you using it with the 595s?

I am fine, thank you, and you?

That's cool with me.

So you are powering the 595 only? Any others?

HI: How are you? I like the PIMETA better than the PPA. First it cost lots less than the PPA. And in my rig a minidisc deck with my 595 the PIMETA is more forgiving than the PPA. Also the PPA had the 326/226 op amps and could be harsh at times with my rig but the PIMEAT has the 8610/8620 op amps that just bring out my minidisc deck like a high end source and make my 595 sound like high end headphones. I mean I stopped listening to music and almost gave up on it but now I am back into it and am enjoying it with great enthusiasm again but even more so. I have learned to match the amp with the source and headphones called surgery I guess.

HI; How are you? Yes I have the 8610/8620 op amps and am using the 595 great headphones. Boy do they sound great with my new set up. I am so enthused by the sound I am going to post once again on how great the 595 are.
Gummy
Once you experience the 595 there is no need for any other headphone.

Hi Lou- glad you are liking the Pimeta. I think it is quite an unsung amp, it sort of sits in the shadows between Cmoy and PPA waiting for someone else to come along and give it a try.

I don't know or care to know what you paid, but I know what it costs relative to a Cmoy or PPA, and the Pimeta is an incredible little amp. Sure, you could do better, but doing better for a similar investment would be a challenge, I feel. Simple and very capable.

Agreed, the Pimeta stands as a class act in the sub $200 market.

Congrats on your purchase.

I don't know why JMT still insists on this, as you can go right to his website and get the pricing there anyway.

It's just such a great feeling to add a brand new component to the rig isn't it!?

Cheers,
Alex

HI: How are you? I have downgraded from a PPA to a PIMETA and from a NAD C542 HDCD player to my minidisc deck. I like this downgrade much better than the other stuff and have great convenience to boot. Just think 2 1/2 hours of my favorite songs back to back on one minidisc in my minidisc 24 bit deck.

I don't know you personally Lou, but as I recall from another thread of yours, you are one of Head-Fi's more "senior" members (of course, no offense meant). That you listen to Pink Floyd--awesome, just awesome

Why not!? I'm one of the older members too I guess, although not quite of Lou's age -- and listen to Pink Floyd too, but prefer their old stuff from the Syd Barrett era («The Piper at the Gates of Dawn»...).

Lou,
Congrats on finding YOUR audio nirvana!

I hope this amp turns out to be a keeper like your minidics deck and 595s did.

oneeyedhobbit,
Didn't you know Pink Floyd is for oldies?
