I have a 100-200$ budget , I'd like to know what to buy as a main home-rig cd-player .
I'm not much interested in other capabilities .

Get a NAD 521i theyre going for $199 new and demo. 5 stars in all the british mags and great quality. No HDCD but its still supposed to sound great. Check Audiogon.

I am in the same predicament. Does anyone have an opinion on the Cambridge D500SE? They are available used in the $200 to $250 range. Not my intent to hijack the thread, it seemed that it might be helpful. Thanks.

There's a great example of why the NE5532 op-amp doesn't have to be bad sounding.

I like the 5534's in my superdac very much, as of yet I haven't found anything at acceptable cost that can replace this excellent box, this includes the analog RME output.

There is some mentioning of the superdac in the article btw, nice.

No comparisons, but I got the Tosh 3960 (slightly different) and am quite happy with it, no clicking either. Still have to do the output cap mod.

gloworm i notice you have the marantz cd 6000 ose ( which can be found in the 200$ price range )
is it as good as the nad ? is it different ( more digital sound ) ?
