Hey guys, whats up!?

here is the thing... since my beloved sennheiser iem's and first acquisition on decent audio died after 5 years of everyday use, everything i tried seemed to lack bass, soundstage, imaging...
i never thought they were superb nor what we can say HiFi audio gear until i had to move on and try other stuff. i think the detail i miss most about my Senns are the bass coming from far behind the stage, i can't explain since i am all new to this world and just started reading about audio when they broke. I didn't think i would miss their sound that much but i think i got quite addicted to sound...
my last attempts were AKG's K511 and k550 and found them lacking in preety much everything except one zone in the middle and higher frequencies where they are rich indeed but i missed some fun.
Before you ask, my Sennheisers were a pair of somewhat cheap CX400's, i know, they aren't that great but once, after two years, they fell appart and i attempted to repair them, but instead of simply putting them back together, i remeber i glued them with silicone sealing some of it's internals intentionally. After that, i freaked out, they were simply transformed, i started to grin out of control because it felt like a home theather, it gained bass and so much dept, and the distance from instruments got clearer and bigger. Thats why i dont consider buying them again.
Instead of buying lots of phones and spending the value of a car trying to find them, i had a better idea, asking you.
I've almost pulled the trigger on a set of Fidelios L2 for their good reviews regarding clarity, SQ, no requirement of expensive gear and it's availability here near me but ONE review saying they could use some more bass made me hold it. What do you think about them? are they fun or too analytical and flat minded?
Another one that tempts me are Beyers DT990 pro 250ohm, since they are well regarded in the bass and soudstage areas... but in the Headphone world there are too many options, everday i find something new... can you shed me a light?

P.S.: i've tried a pair of Beats given a friend of mine saying they had the bass i wanted and how they were the best phones in the world, but it seemed the bass and the rest of the music were two different scores playing at the same time, i don't know but, the bass was somewhat disconnected from everything else but sinc'ed...

then i tried some Sony mdr xb 950 if i remember well the name, and it was the same or even worse, now i don't know what i am! the akg's failed to me and when i thought i was a basshead the beats and sonys made sick :/ what the ****...

Can an L2 make me happy? Beyers, Ath's or stuff like Audez'es and only stuff costing the price of an used civic? (i am desperated and thanks for listening all of this ****, i don't even speak english LOL)

thanks guys!!!

Can you order from Amazon? The Aurisonics Eva has a lot of bass without being anything like Beats, and for not a lot of money (Aurisonics has merged with Fender though so the newer products will be released as Fenders). I have the ASG-1.3, loved it so much that when the shell cracked after years and years (probably from bouncing around the case; high humidity here also put in their own wear on the color), I tried to buy a new shell from Aurisonics. What they did was send me a barely used demo unit instead, and this time they gave me the newer case with the padded lining on the interior.

Also, just to help with the soundstage depth, try NeutronMusicPlayer on your phone (use the trial version in case you hate the interface), and enable Crossfeed. Don't fiddle with the settings, just try each of the presets. See what gets you a bit more depth and more consistent imaging (ie each instrument's position must be proportionately relative to each other's position) without making the soundstage width too narrow.

Yeah, ASG's are a sure go as well, any idea on how they compare with the Senn IE8's?
Anyways, ordering on Amazon is no issue for me, the only however are the bad luck cases you know, every once in a while a product can come faulty. International shipments usually take more than a month to be delivered by my national stupid mail services once landed. geting an item replaced from US or china can take more than three months
mad.gif
, not to mention that whenever they get the cance to do it, customs can tax a product costing more than 50 bucks in 50 to 100% of it's value! It's awful! That's why i got so tempted by the L2's i found at a local audio store, they are so well regarded around here. Have you ever heard one?
Regarding the App, i use spotify most of the time but i will still try it and liking it, i'll dowload them all!

And thanks man! i wasn't expecting any reply!

Are you in the Philippines?

Because all that sounds like the kinds of problems I'd deal with. There are cargo forwarding services going here (and elsewhere, check for your country if you're elsewhere) but of course no cargo backwarding.

In my case what I do really is use our California address, and then things are stuffed into bigger cargo boxes or hand-carried by relatives. When Aurisonics requested I just send in my ASG-1 I asked my uncle to carry it when he went there, then my brother shipped it to Aurisonics and received the replacement.

Hey man, i'm not in the Philippines, i'm in São Paulo, Brazil. It would be great to have relatives living there. Also, in my search for a good repleacement for my Senns, yesterday i tried to order a pair of Zero Audio Carbo Bassos from amazon, Japan import. They have been reviwed as an astonishing set for their price, Both Bassos and Tenores presenting amazing sound signatures for my taste and soudstages unusually large for iem's, mostly at their price range, only 40 bucks. BUT during the checkout and payment process, they were gonna cost 40 and the Japan-Brazil Shipment wich would be about 80 dollars! imagine my face...at the end of the day i can get a set of Fidelio L2's for almost the same price since Philips imports them. Here, i can get them for the relative cost of 120-160 usd depending on the distribuitor.

Well we have the same problems, although a California address gets around some of them for me. Check anyway if there are cargo forwarders to your country - that price might double but as long as you won't have to deal with Customs sharks (er, agents) then at least the only considerations are whether you can get anything better locally and warranties. If like over here tendency is for distributors to be a total PITA anyway, ordering from outside the country isn't all that bad an option.

I lived in Buenos Aires for a year, and electronics there were outrageously overpriced.

I managed to find a guy who knew a guy who worked for the airlines and would bring stuff in once a week for cost+middleman fee, which was about half what it would cost in the stores.

Now im not saying this is legal (or not) and not suggesting this is the way to go,but I dont even speak much Spanish and was able to find this guy with a little digging and it saved me a ton of cash

Now im not saying this is legal ...

Hahahahahah man, i immediately pictured me being arrested on tv for illegal smuggling of audiophile cans, you know, looking over ma shoulders, **** da police, heavy stuff

but jokes apart, the only issue will be customs taxation i think. About the aquisition itself,  there are lots of ways to get them. here in sao paulo there are hd600-800, hifiman cans clubs and all but its just a tad bit more expensive... whats really making me wonder are the L2's right now since philips are bringing them here for a "steal" price, but i dont know whether they are going to do it for me or not. Some dig their bass, some call them flat and analytical... should i get them or else?

Since you mentioned DT990s in your original post and are considering Fidelio L series, what about Fidelio X2?

I have the X1 and I preferred them over my DT990s

Yeah, i dig them both so much! (X2 and Dt990).
And its quite surprising to hear! usually Beyers are guaranteed spot at guys collections but never figured they would be somewhat repleceable by Fidelios. I'm just a bit confused on whats going on with Philips right now because they seem to be backordered at amazon. Dont know if it's related to Amazon's services, delivery issues or alikes as they claim as an excuse for not selling them anymore themselves. Or Philips is having quality issues as some reviwers arround seem to claim.
