hi everyone, I currently own a Cowon D2 for about a year now. I kinda get tired of the look of it, so i want to get a new player. I know the Cowon D2 has very good SQ but I want something else smaller with good SQ. Right now i'm looking at the Sansa Clip which is smaller then the D2. I also heard that it has very good SQ if pair with a high-end headphone. I've never owned a high-end headphone before so i wouldn't know what it would sound like. If you guys know any other smaller audio player please let me know. Btw, i listen to a lot of Trance, house and techno. If you guys know any good headphones for those kind of music please let me know also. thank you

Sansa's are very nice. Their SQ is quite good and they have a nice storage capacity for the price. You won't go wrong with them.
I haven't used a Sansa Clip, only a Sansa Fuze, and i was VERY happy with it.

Referring to the headphones.... it depends on what type of headphone you like to use. IEMs? or big headphones?
I suppose that you are looking for small audio players to have portability, in that case, i think you should discard then big-headphones and go with IEMs or at least, something intermediate like a Senn PX100.

Also, whats your budget? You have IEMs since 30$ to 1200$ and more

hey first let me ask the admin to delete one of the duplicate thread that i accidentally made. I just saw that i had posted this thread twice for some reason. Probably when i tried to submit, it didn't go through the first time so i submit again now there are two threads.

Ok now back to the players, thank you for the replies. I forgot to mention about what type of headphone i wanted sorry about that. Yes i want IEMs. I know some of the high-end ones can go up to 500 dollars like the Shure. Well i don't know if i want to spend that much on just the headphone. anything that would give a lot of bass for the type of music i listen to is fine. around 200 and below.

As for the audio players, any other suggestion of smaller players with good sound quality beside the sansa line?

Well, at this price the Etymotic ER4P. I didn't tried them, but they are VERY well reviewed here, and they are around 180-200$. Do a search.

Another cheaper option are the Senns PX100, which i used in the past and they have very very good sound for the price (around 40-50$) and good bass. Not punchy, just good and solid bass. They are not IEMs, but they are a good portable option too.

If you want to spend more, Westone 3 have marvellous bass. I tried them with my electronic music too and sound quality and bass were superb. They are around 350$ new.

Westone 3s are amazing for 350 IMO.

Etys at 200 are a steal also. The etys are known for crisp and detailed highs though, and have a little bass so if that is a problem for you, don't go that route.

But for a player, I would say that Sansa's players are great. FYI, Clips and Fuzes sound identical from what I read on here, so just get one based on size of the player and storage space.

Get used ER4p if you decide to go that route. I got mine for about 115 and never looked back. They are golden.

wow thank you for all the info on headphones. you guys are really good at these headphone huh? I didn't come to the wrong place after all.
if you guys see another thread with the same title as this one please don't reply to that one. I made a mistake and double post the same thread.
anyway, it seems like on the audio players, you guys recommend the sansa clip and fuze a lot. any other smaller players that sounds good like the sansa clip? remember i already have a cowon d2 so space is not a really problem here. i just need something smaller as a secondary player. i still use my cowon d2, as a matter of fact, the cowon d2 is the best player out there period. i just don't like its look that much but the SQ is superior. i have it hooked up to an M-Audio Bx5a monitor that i use to make music and it sounds so good. anyway, if you guys know another smaller players, please list it down.

Sq wise there is very little between my s9 and the clip but the cowon does edge it especially when you fiddle with the eq settings but for the price it's a bargain.

Bought myself one for when i hit the gym, the s9 is just too nice a player not to mention bulky i can treat the clip how i want and get great sq along with it, not to mention on full volume it hardly changes while cowons to go a bit recessed when pushed hard.

It will surprise you as it has me.
