I just recieved my KOSS Porta Pros and and couldn't be happier. It's simply amazing that a pair of headphones built in the 80's could sound so good for so little. I love the retro look and feel. I wish more manufacturers would take notice in their desighn and make headphones more confortable. I grew up in the 80's and wish I discovered these then. It goes to show that sometimes less is more. My Portas are so light and confy. I'm going all retro with my vintage sony walkman and Porta Pros.

Later.

Congrats! I hear the sound is very close to my Koss KSC-35s, which mean they rock! Enjoy your new cans!

Although the PP mod neutralizes the bass, the highs become too harsh, coarse, and unrefined. I like what it does to the bass, but it's not worth it. My hole was about 1 cm in 45 mm radioshack pads, btw.

If you want a more neutral presentation with as much/if not more detail, why don't you just wear your PX-100s? Hook them up to an amp and they become much tighter and clearer than the PPs.

Tip: try a much smaller hole. You only need approx. half of a centimetre for the mod to work. Just cut a hole over the bass (lower) "duct"... (you can see three ducts if you remove the pads. They're on the blue driver covering...

what nonsense.......the driver is symmetrical throughout. There is no reason why the lower duct should should be responsible for the bass.
