I like the SR60 over 325i, totally confused

Maybe, just maybe.. you folks don't listen to the Grado for long durations as I do. I do my work in office with the Grados almost always on my head when I am on my desk and then back at home. I would about 10+ hours a day, most days with an average 2 or 3 ours in a stretch.

Come by butrovich, and bring your cans. You can compare them to my rs1s using my amps...

Thanks a million.. I had wanted to come buy to meet you for a few days now, its my wierd timings of getting up in the afternoons and working through the night like an owl that has hindered that plans. I would like to come by tomorrow, if its alright with you.

I'm thinking of sueing Nissan because the car I own goes too fast and it makes me crash.

I am surprised that quite a few people had problems with their Grados. So i'm not just the lone victum here. I had a nice 5 hour nap and for sure the pain has reduced.

Like I said earlier Ive been listening for roughly a year every day, 6 hours a day non stop average... no hearing problems whatsoever so far. I'm thinking maybe you do listen to music way too loud...

I have ear pain/hearing problems as a result of my headphone usage now. I listened for hours a day like Mamba, but at low volumes. Even with the low volume, I screwed up my hearing. If Mamba is listening at higher volumes, his hearing/ear pain issues aren't surprising at all.

Apparently Grados aren't for you, I suggest you try senns or akgs instead. (Beyers are also rather bright, so I recommend avoiding them.)

Beyers are bright but definitely not painful and comfy for wearing even for big heads.

Suing a headphone manufacturer (or speaker manufacturer) on the basis of making products causing hearing damage because of loud listening? How about suing flame thrower manufacturing companies for making products that cause skin damage when pointing the flame throwing guns directly at you

X2

Turn it down in the first place, then you wont have anything to worry about.

LOL my English... I meant the tip of the flame thrower itself, whatever it's called, thought gun would be appropriate for the whole device

I totally agree with you. I really really used to listen at not low, but average volumes only. I used my SR80 for 4 months with higher volumes than I used my 325i because the highs are so darn sharp, I am forced to listen to it at much reduced volumes. For all you may know, I may be listening to volumes lower than most of you guys. I prided myself in being able to make difference between a 320kbps recording and the CD (again I don't think it was psychological, but I just felt the CD had some unexplainable richness).

I do agree with you since that seams to be the case here. As far as the sueing Grado goes, although I will not be doing any such stuff, I am mighty sure that the 325i has uncontrolled and exagurated highs. A product that can be potentially harmfull if listened to at average volumes SHOULD NOT be released.

Its great for the folks that have no pain, but then again, whouldn't you too be pissed if your ears start to pain after listening to a $300 headphone only at moderate volumes? I know I am going to be selling the 325i, but this whole business of selling and buying is tiresome

.

Added: Anyway, I just slept for 6 hours in a stretch and I feel so much better. I am now leaving to office (10PM) and will be there till morning and mostly listening to music. I'll post back as to what happens (I'll try to listen to just acceptable volume levels)

The recording is very important as well.
If it is rather cheap and bright, I get pain as well. With the SA5000 and the Grado’s. I switch to the HD650 for such recordings. Problem solved.

I have not listened to the Grados mentioned in this thread, so can't comment
about them.
But as far as listening to headphones at potentially risky levels goes, for me
it would when listening to something with rolled off mids/highs as the
'missing element would probably encourage me to turn the volume up so
that things started to sound normal.
Brighter phones would tend to discourage loud volumes due to the 'wince' factor.
I experienced this to some degree when I first obtained my Shure E4 phones,
compared to my other phones they are quite rolled off and the punchy mids
drove me mad until I realized what I was doing.
I now enjoy their sound and appreciate their finer qualities more fully.

I totally agree, with alot of the headphones ive had so far, its always been tempting to turn up the volume, and after an hour or so, turn it up again. I quickly stopped doing that though.
