I just tried my "out the back door" V-moda monitors again. .

and they really are pretty good, which was my opinion when I bought them in China and didn't know they were the first generation V-moda monitors. I like them better than the later version and I am glad I picked up a few pairs of these while there. They have better extension than my UM2's and better or I should say, cleaner bass. Oh well, time marches on.

the bass extension is to be expected but bass clarity and detail will surely suffer. but hey you have picked them up again and gave us all hope the vibes are still up there with the other phones in that range

No, they are the cleanest or clearest sounding but I like them better than the Red Roxx I have. At first the Red Roxx sounded pretty much ok then after a period of time for some reason the sound deteriorated. Anyway, I always enjoyed the Aqua back door Vibes.
