I hate those bugs. We did a complete "treatment" of the basement and attic with a fumigator? I dont know...but no bugs this year. They used to be a menace...HUGE, Blackish, Mean looking...just plain disgusting.

Thankfully I havent seen one yet. The last time I was in Erie in Spring I used to see one almost everyday. Had to check shoes carefully...

hate em!

Centipedes have to be the only bug to make me feel uneasy; I'm practically phobic when it comes to them. We get a crap load of them in the basement of the house I live in now for some reason, so every few days I'll see one scurrying across the floor. Then I go into panic mode since they freak me out, and grab this shovel thingy we have for the fireplace, pick up the person, and throw him in the toilet. The ones we get are longer and thinner looking than in that photo...I swear I saw one over two inches in length one time. So gross.

okay i have story to tell. i was in 4rd or 5th grade, in texas. was standing and saying the pledge. and all the sudden i felt really, really strange and uneasy like something is crawling in my skin. and in a very quick moment, out of intuition, no thinking, i felt something at my neck and grabbed it threw it on the floor. and then i saw a big ass cockroach about the size of a thumb crawling into a hole in the wall.

still makes my spine tingles to this day thinking about it.

Dang, I've got one. Like 3-4 years ago I was at scout camp down in the Ozarks and me and a couple of buddies went out on this bluff overlooking the Truman and outta no where this huge mother came crawling out from between my feet. He looked close to this

BIG NASTY LOOKING BUG!!!

Except his front antenae were a lot bigger and his head looked like this bright fire orange color. Scared the krap out of us, but it was cool looking none the less.

Haha, that was a pretty good laugh...would you rather have me put a link to it instead? He was all of 8-10 inches long and the body was probably an inch thick. That picture is actually rather accurate. That's not even the worst of it, certain species of the centipedes found in the Osage can be quite poisonous as well. I sure wouldn't want to get bit by one!!!

God, I hate those things... did you really have to post a photo?

When I was a kid, a centipede crawled into a glass of water I was drinking (while it was set down for a few)... since then I've had a near phobia toward those things. Don't tell any Mafia torturers about that...

You know those house centipedes eat those cockroaches you hate so much.

You did the cockroaches in your house a favor.

Isn't kindy freaky how their legs keep moving after they are no longer attached to their body? A nice defensive measure they have.
