Hello everyone I recently moved into the filk scene (what can be better then combining two of my hobbies, star trek and music listening) through my research into filk i stumbled upon CDBaby : Discover Music a site that I had never heard of before. I am so happy i found it! No advertisements, a lot of the money goes to the actual artist and you can download many of the albums legally with a good feeling about it. I have to be honest i did not buy any cds anymore but this site will change this. It has a lot of material that is otherwise hard to find, i am also into psychedelic music and power metal and especially that latest genre seems to be rather udnerground at times. I also love te fact that you can download a lot of the items on the site because shipping internationally to the netherlands from the usa can be a pain.
I am very happy also because many of the items have samples you can download before buying.
Greetings, Anouk,

Yup, it's a great site to discover relative unknown artists and buy their music for little money.

Thanks,
Greetings, Anouk,

Sorry, I can't help you here. I use CDBaby mainly for discovering artists. I haven't bought from them yet.
Not so long ago, you could listen to two minutes of every song from any artist. Unfortunately they shortened that, and the songs are not played in Media Player anymore.

Anouk, I've been using CD baby for a couple of years now and they are indeed a super service. I've downloaded and also bought CD's both of which have been hassle free. The downloads are VBR with a ceiling of 320kbps which is real close to CD quality. The downloads come in a zip and also come with the artwork which is a nice touch.

I've discovered some brilliant stuff on there but mostly downtempo/chillout stuff that doesn't get an airing in mainstream music outlets. Also their customer service rocks! Any issues and Pony (unusual but lovely name) will sort it for you.

Good luck & enjoy!

Hey, Yeah I called them earlier this evening via skype (i love that for international calls!) and the person on the phone was really helpful! I will certainly do business with them again especially if I can just download stuff!
Not all artists allow downloading and it is not always cheaper then buying the physical cd but it is such a big convenience especially since I use my computer for all things 20/7 anyway. It is just so great since I NEVER saw the use in buying (and never did buy) cds after getting a computer but that is back now. Note that I never go to live stints so I cant really uby merchandise or cds there otherwise that would have been anoption because that money mostly goes to the artists directly too.
Greetings, Anouk,

I have ordered from CDBaby and will order again later this week. I listen to C & W, classic 50's and 60's style. Found Kevin Banford, and purchased from CDBaby. Excellent music. Other also. Good service, good prices. Reliable.
