100+ Head-Fier
I got my first Audeze planars after being a fan of Hifiman planars for a long time. If I could describe the sound of the MM-100 in one word it would be "efortless". Very smooth. The bass is even less present than on my hifimans but somehow it all works. You don't notice the reduced bass because the whole sound scape is very cohesive. Initially I was using the Xbass function of the IFi hipdac with these but found it wasn't necessary. I rate these about 7.5 or 8 out of 10. I don't like them QUITE as much as my Hifiman Ananda Stealth but I do like them better than my Sundara and HE400SE. I would call them a slightly darker, slightly warmer (though they don't measure that way) and really smoothed out Sundara. Not the most resolving headphone I've ever heard but they are really enjoyable. I'd give them an 8.5 but am removing half a point for the fact that they feel like a brick on my head. I think they weigh like 500+g. That's a lot. You really feel it. Build quality is spectacular btw these are built like tanks. Metal everywhere. Everything is smooth and chonky. Durable feeling. The ONE thing I absolutely do not like is the earpads. They are excellent quality and seal great. Don't get me wrong. But they get HOT. In a 74F room my ears are sweaty as all heck after 30-40 minutes of listening. Like wet. Cheers all.
