Mad the BevMo trip at lunch to get some Bacardi for mojitos this weekend and my eye caught the last bottle in stock of Black Maple Hill 18 YO, Cask R66, Rye

Quote:

Green walnut color with thin, regular slow legs. Sweet corn and horehound candy on the nose. Rich texture, with lots of vanilla sweetness. Very lady-like and pretty in its lacy flavors, finishes warming rather than hot. In spite of its hints of ferocity this is actually a very dainty rye.

Can't wait to have this on the rocks with a nice Cohiba! Happy New year indeed!

Have you had it before?? I'd love to know if it is worth the $$ before I crack the seal.

wake ... if Peter says it's good stuff, believe him. Me, I switched from Bourbon to Scotch long before the designer Bourbons came around, so cannot comment on your purchase. I can volunteer that whenever I've splurged on a $70 - $100 bottle of single malt (especially Lagavulin 16), it has always been worth it.

Enjoy in good health, and Happy New Year.

If by any chance you need company, becasue you feel depressed or lonely, and need a good listening ear, or maybe a budy to listen some music, just let me know, I will be all ears (and mouth of course) BTW love Cohiba as well....and nope, I know that sometimes our wives do not understand our macho needs...

You know, that sounds like something that would be better with two buds.

I know that I would certainly be able to lend a sympathetic ear, and I could even bring my own glass if need be.

Uh … that does say "Rye", as in rye whisky … yes? Bourbon -- no, yes? No?

Let's bring a couple of lap dancers if you like, but I think that this bottle will be a waste then.....

Being a bourbon drinker myself I followed the link and I quite agree with Peter. It would appear that you have bought yourself a bottle of rye and not bourbon although the D&M site does list some rather nice bourbons.

I'm particularly fond of Basil Hayden's and Maker's Mark but they have some really nice ones listed there. The Rowan's Creek is very good and the Booker's has a real nice kick to it. Another one you should try is Bulleit's.

You really think it will be a waste?

How 'bout only one lap dancer then?

I actually bought the wrong bottle, I was looking for the 16 year which they were out of so I took it back and upgraded... the headfi way!

Now I do have bourbon thank you very much... Black Maple Hill 21yr Bourbon

Quote:

“ … deep honey color totally enchants the eye – perfumed early aroma highlights touches of caramel, oak barrel char and palm oil … a whopper of a mature, buttery bourbon bouquet … the palate entry shows incredible firmness, oil/cream and grain/wood presence – at midpalate, the taste shifts into overdrive as sweet, sap-like flavors of caramel corn, maple sugar and roasted grain converge to make a sensational taste experience; finishes sweet, intense and caramel-like; SUPERB AND THRILLING FROM BEGINNING TO END.”

Spirit Journal Rating: 5 Stars/RECOMMENDATION

Picked up a Cohiba Tora Tube too... I'm set for some poker at the cabin this weekend.

considering you spent between 20 to 30 bucks on a smoke. 70 is not at all out of line for what should be a quality bottle. of course booze, just like smokes and sound equiptment are all taste specific, i hope you found a taste that suits you. by what i have seen of your sound buys you have good taste and i am sure it wont let you down now.
