I need your help.

I've been relying on the Sony MP3 player, NWZ-A829 for almost two years now but the headphone hole has become probelmatic as the sound keeps cutting on the left chanel. I love THAT kind of sound quality, but I can't make a purchase of a new one at present.

I bought an iPod two years ago with the 160GB stoage capacity but I never liked the sound quality, plus the pre-set equlizer settings are horrendous.

I heard that RockBox has software for iPod players, though not for all the models.

I can't tell the generation of mine, but I know it was shortly discontinued after I bought it.

My question is: Can I upload the operating system of RockBox to make it sound better?

Thanks for you help.

1) 160GB is thick first modification of 6th gen, and it cannot be rockboxed.
2) Rockbox doesn't improve SQ.

If you want a player with sufficient storage capacity and decent SQ, you should either look on Zune 120 or consider upgrading HDD in some other legacy HDD-based player (e.g. Kenwood HD60GD9, Gigabeat F/X, Cowon X5 etc)
