The dock has considerably better fidelity. Treble no longer sounds as bright and less metallic. Bass drops far deeper and is better controlled. There is more "space" around vocals.

How about Ety 4s v. 4p?

4p is for when i am out walking with just the pod. On the pushbike or at work the Xin with 4s. TBH all you need to know has already been said. I personally find the 4p's a little "midrangey" straight after the 4s's - and i find the 4p's "bright" after the 4s's. ITS GREAT - i have 2 types of headphones chaging between them just with a diddy wire!

Also, please compare with and without the amp.

Better bass with the 4p's - something about the cap size of the iPod? just far more hi fi sound!

Finally, heaphone output on new ipod compared to headphone output on old ipod.

i prefer the 4S with the amp and good source material. lots more detail........

Now if only the iPod had a less voilent treble reducer - like 2 or 3 db not 10....that would be good.

you're damn right it's near headphone nirvana! i hope (i know) the ety's will bring you many years of headphone bliss. like the others have already said, it only gets better with improved amps and sources!!! congrats on finding the perfect phones

what i find is with the cable i can use the S with well recorded discs (ryan adam's gold or norah jones for example) and with pop stuff (michael jackson or anastacia) i will use the P's (or rather chuck on the cable)

very cool feature the adaptor.

plus Etymotic are a cool firm to deal with!
