I have a pair of DT-770 Pro (80 ohms) and onboard sound. I have $50 to spend to make them sound as good as possible, what do I buy?

What is the make and model of your motherboard?

Asus Xonar DGX sound card, $27.98 after $10 mail in rebate (Amazon).

Xonar DGX or another Xonar card is great for the price. There's even $10 off right now through rebate. I have two DGX's sitting next to me, and while they underperform for gaming (Dolby is very bloated), they are a great upgrade to onboard audio for music listening. More power, easy drivers, microphones sound cleaner, more detail, and a bit quieter.

Purple beat me by 16 seconds. C'MON!!!

Lol.
Also, I downloaded different drivers and Dolby is behaving much better... better enough to keep the DGX in. Search for UNi Xonar drivers.
