Not really... just my wallet. Last year I went looking for the best sounding earbuds and after coming here I purchaced the Ety ER-4Ps. Had JMT build me an amp for it next. Next I bought a pair of Grado 325s. Very very different sound compaired to what I've been used to all my life. Found a good deal on a pair of SR-80s that I didn't really need. Now I've just recieved my Sennheiser HD600s. Oh, will this ever end? Is there an end in site?

The answer to both of your questions is NO.

Yup, it's ended for me. I got a terrific setup for home use, and a terrific one for outside use. Since I'm completely satisfied with both, there's no need to spend more on hardware.

I asked this same question a month back or so. I wondered if I was ever going to be out of this spiraling circle. Now, I think it's more of a willpower thing. There will always be something bigger and better out there, but you just have to rely on yourself to determine whether or not you're going to spring for it.

Here's the thread that I started, if you are interested:

If you ever find a setup that you are completely happy with, it might end. I'm getting there...

Just a few hundred more dollars.

There's a theoretical end in sight, but since no one has ever reached it, we will never know. Yet!!

Well, if there's an end, Joelongwood or Hirsch will probably find it first...

...though Joe still needs some R10s and electrostats (both the Omega 2 AND the Orpheus)...

...and Hirsch also needs some electrostats...

...and they both need Gilmore CADs, and then KGSS-en once they get some electrostats...

...or maybe Nik has already found it, with his Linn CD12->Shinpy->Custom R10H->R10...

...or maybe Kevin Gilmore has found it, since he's already got the Wilson Maxxes, though he still needs some Accuphasing and Linnifying... but he can and does design way better amps then you'll ever find for sale in a store or catalog.

If there's an end in sight, it seems to involve either great quantities of income or a close brush with the bankruptcy courts.
