Hey guys i just got a pair of Headphile woodied and recabled Grado SR225's. I also got Senn 414 pads and vwap pads for them as well as the bowl pads. I have tried all three and so far the vwaps sound the best but are also very well used and don't want to stay on the headphones very well. So can anyone tell me where i can find a new pair of vwap pads for my SR225's? Or do you know of anything else that comes close to their sound? I found the bowl pads to be lacking in bass. I really like the balance of the vwaps. So any suggestions for a Grado newbie would be great thanks. I listen to mainly Rock/Classic Rock/Punk/Pop.

you say you've got vwap AND senn 414 pads? Just so you know, vwap pads ARE senn pads with a hole in them. So If you don't have holes in your senn pads just make holes the same size and you've got yourself another set of vwap pads.

they do have the hole i thought they sounded almost identical but i really don't like the yellow at all. But if i have to that will work.

That sounds great. I too am planning on getting the SR 225. I'm pretty excited about it. I need a good rock/metal headphone. Basically I will use the 225 as my high end portable can.

Yeah i really like them so far. I listen to alot of Pink Floyd and it sounds AMAZING on them. But these also have a $250 Headphile mod done to them. So anymore suggestions on pads for them?

How about Todd The Vinyl Junkies Flat Pads. They seem to be the same. They are expensive though. $30 is alot for pads.

They are not the same. They are made from a more abrasive but more durable foam and they are a hair thinner.

I think you can go to the Sennheiser USA website and order the 414 pads. An alternate option is to go to Radioshack and buy them for like...8 bucks or whatever they are. You can dye them black yourself and cut the hole. Though by the end of his run, Andy was incredible at cutting without tearing the pads.

Is there any way of getting more bass out of the Bowls cause there are some aspects of the bowls i like better than the vwaps or senn 414's. The bowls seem to give more presence of the snaare drum it seems alot sharper and more crisp atleast on Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight. I just find the bass to be lacking a bit on them.

I love the flats. They may seem pricey at $30.00 from Todd, but trust me, they are worth every penny. They make more of a difference than upgrading the phones themselves in some cases I'm guessing.

Hmm i may have to get a pair soon. I am starting to like the airyness of the Bowls but the bass isn't as good as i would want it to be. The instruments have more sparation and placement coming from the bowls which i like. I mean that may mean the grado sound is not for me? I was just wondering for all of the grado owners what have you found to be the perfect all around pad? Giving most of what i described.

My vote would be C-Pads. I find the Zeta-G ports to be a nice compromise between flats and bowls. With flats you'll probably lose the airiness you want but gain the bass. For me the Zeta-G provide a good mix of the qualities of bowls and flats with the added benefit of comfort and soundstage.....

Edit: Larry has changed the names on the C-Pads, post updated to reflect that.
