Hello, new here, dont kick me too hard.

Ok, i officially give up on getting legendary Philips SBC HD1505u wireless headphones.

Cant find Pioneer DIR2000's too, but even if i found them they are a wee bit too expensive.

I'm looking on splashing out 200 quid for good quality "dolby headphone" headphones with base station/decoder.

What is new on this front ? What was produced after SBCHD1505's that has adequate sound quality. I havent heard them, but i get impression that HD1500's were exceptionally good for the price.?

What i need is 4 digital inputs (of which at least one coax), no fancy proprietary batteries or base charging (but that would be nice).

Headphones will be used for DVD viewing and games playing (X-Fi equipped PC, PS2, Wii). I want to try "dolby headphone" because due to layout of my sitting room i cant get decent 5.1 installed...

I'm just sick and tired of crap phones i had in the past (i'm looking at you, speedlink medusa)(till i got Technics RP-F350's, cheap and cheerful, but quality sound.) Hence trying to squeeze the best there is for 200...

Any ideas ?

Am i right to assume that IR transmission is limited to the same room that base is stationed in ? As in direct line of sight ? Would it then be better to get RF ones ?

Thank You for any input. I'm mighty confused, i must say...

P.S. Oh yeah, closed back and big cans (as in RP-F350). Hate when good cans sit ON the ear...

#EDIT1# Oh yeah, the headphones that you can buy in UK, dammit

Don't give up on the HD1500U ! You can get them from Germany, via Technikdirect who ship to the UK and have some english on the website (click on the union jack at the bottom of the page); see the link:

They were out of stock until this week, so get your order in fast. If there is a problem with them, try these alternatives:

Could you explain to me this - if i understand correctly (and in general i dont understand squat about expensive audio
biggrin.gif
) the 1500 has only 2 inputs ? While 1505 has 4.

I'm a bit paranoid about 1500 having not enough inputs. Plus how do i connect X-Fi if 1500 doesnt have optical (or does it) ?

Most of retailers i found all over europe display only HEADPHONES picture, no base station. Whats the point in buying headphones only if i dont get base station/decoder. Most of websites are in german/french/spanish so i cant understand squat, and babelfish doesnt help much.

#Edit# I got the 1500-1505 misunderstanding cleared

I never knew that 1505 are only earphones, not decoder/amp...

The HD1500U is the base station + headphone. The "u" is for upgrade over the original version (better constructed headphones and remote control being the main improvements). The HD1505 are stand alone headphones excluding the processor if you want 2 people to able to listen wirelessly. You can also use 2 wired 'phones of any make hooked up to inputs on the processor.

I'm not the best on technical details either, but the box says you can use 4 inputs. The 4 inputs on the back of the processor are 2 digital, (one coaxial and one optical), and two analog inputs. Each input has a corresponding output so that you can link it to a receiver if you have a speaker set up as well.

Hope this helps.

Now. I have dug the net for quite a while to find them headphones i'd like (not knowing where to start really). This forum helped loads. I want to return something. What i can do (having a good hearing, being tech savvy but full of noobium when it comes to posh audiotech) is to document the package, photos, manuals, etc. I cant do a proper review due to lack of experience in wireless headphones, let alone digital. My current set is Technics RP-F350, that i love, btw. I wonder how HD1500's will stack up against that cheap set (that sounds good to me).

Oh, and anyone interested can buy them from Germany based online shop eas-y ...

Clicky

Cost me ~230 eur including shipping from Germany to UK. Peanuts. You'll need 2 to 3 prong adapter in UK and in US you'll need some sort of converter from 220v to 110v.

I'm not too sure they ship to US, btw...

Ack, b*stards, they screwed me, gah... just checked techdirect.de, that had the set before, but by the time i got monies it was out of stock... Now they're back in at 170 eur plus shipping...

Now need to figure how to hook up X-Fi to coax, since "smart people" at creative never figured to stick optical oor coax out back, instead did up front...bah...

Oh, yeah, i can confirm that the set i bought from eas-y is the proper updated version with more inputs/outputs and a remote...
