I pulled these from the pads. The foam on the left is "healthy". The foam on the right stunk like all of New York City's bums decided to sleep over at the porta potty cleaning facility.

It also reminds me of a healthy lung vs a cancerous lung.

I threw the pads out. I'm getting new ones on Thursday or Friday.

Was there a hole in the pad that had the foam visible so you could smell it?

Oh, and where are you getting replacement pads (In case I run into used ones and have to get replacements also)

Someone's CD3k broke and was selling his pads on head-fi. You can get new replacements for $50 shipped from audiocubes.

If you are thinking about buying from KnickKnacks, be confident. They have excellent customer support. They wouldve refunded me just for the smell of my CD3k.

The real question... How in the heck did just one ear pad get that awful stench, and that REALLY yellow color? And if it got on the pads, shouldn't that mean that it got all over the driver as well?

I think it was probably sweat that went into the pad. The pad was in a bad condition. It was open all over the inside of the rim.

New pads should be here tomorrow or Thursday.

1. The pads were wasted. That was the foam from the inside of the pad.

2. I got 3 month old pads $20 used.

3. I would have paid $50 had I not found them used.
