As embarrassing as it is, I have to let you guys know that at the age of 30, I still don't know how to tie a tie. Anyone got good tips on the fine art of tying a tie? Should your height be a consideration in how you tie it, etc... ? If I'm not mistaken, there are many different knots too right? Basically it's for an interview for a job (which is still yet to come, lol) - and I assume for office it would be the same as how you tie it during interview?

Thanks.

http://www.tie-a-tie.net/

For many years I wore a tie for work every day. I'm happy to say that's been a thing of the past for the last decade. I can tie my own tie in my sleep, but if someone asks me to help them tie their's, I can't do it unless I put the tie on myself then remove it while still tied.

I didn't know how to tie one until 3 months ago, when I looked at random tutorials online and practiced for about an hour.

Hey thanks, that's a pretty good site. I'm tall but I don't think I have long neck, and it's for a job interview, so I guess Windsor Knot it is then huh?
What it doesn't mention on the site is, how long should the front side of the tie? Around your bellybutton or a bit lower?

Point just near the belt buckle should be fine.

HA!! I got you beat, I'm 36 and have no clue how to tie a tie. The only time I wear a tie is at a funeral. I get my wife to do it for me.

Why do women know how to tie ties if they don't wear them. How do they learn? Are they born with it, is it the same as how mom's just know when something is up (usually)

I believe the ladies are born with it. I used to wear a tie to work everyday, and my Wife would tie every new one I got and I would simply slip it off after work and hang the by the loop around the top of a coat hanger and hang them in the closet.

I have a couple hundred ties hanging in my closet on different hangers. All still tied like the last time I wore them.

....going all the way back to the early 70s!
