I just spent 17 dollars and change on a CD, which is way more than I normally spend being the cheapscape that I am, on one of my favorite recordings, "I Ching - Of the Marsh and the Moon" on the Chesky label in the SACD format.

The regular CD sounds amazing, having been recorded in Natural Surround, with the ambient information being damn near out of this world, spectacular sonics and superb music to boot (if you enjoy new-agey, Chinese-y stuff). And having picked up a Sony SACD player a few months back I thought I'd get this SACD for the improved sonics.

I can't wait to get this thing in!

If you want to hear something a bit different and interesting, consider giving it a go at Amazon. You might like it. Or love it.

I decided to run a search before starting a new thread.

This is a truly excellent recording and I highly recommend it to all.  Very full of melody and dynamic.  Wonderful on the HD800's too!!!

I got mine off HDTracks at high resolution, i.e., 96/24bits

Aha.... you share my sentiments exactly.  Understandably, I guess, we haven't been able to romp up much enthusiasm either.

For another jaunt that's similarly fulfilling is 'Celtic Moods'.  Not Chinese, but Celtic in style.  I've not seen that one in high resolution, but golly gee... what wonderful melodies!!

Along the line of I Ching in terms of a great serene listen from a great recording, I invite you with similar enthusiasm, to try Mike Oldfields "The Songs of Distant Earth".   It packs a similarly wide dynamic range to that of I Ching's recording.   A very satisfying listen.
