Sony CD3000. and that's only because it is not on your list. (tongue firmly planted in cheek).

Martin, I strongly suggest you make some meets, open your yellow pages and find stores in your area, and audition any set of headphones before buying.

I have only listened to the HD590. But I have listened to other models from the different brands like SR80 (liked it), MDR-F1, K240 and others....I don't have the possibility to listen to these phones where I live. I live in a pretty small town in Sweden. And I don't know another town close where I can listen to all...

I would buy CD3000 if they didn't cost 500 dollars!

Since the Creek isn't much better than the average component jack, I voted for the bright easy-to-drive HD590.

well, i still haven't voted. and i'm a Team Beyer & AKG member... That being said, I'm surprised that you didn't have ATH on your short list. I would think that you want a forward sounding headphone with comfort. That would lean towards the HD590 and ATH900 (US$200 range), from what I've read. I own the K501 and do not feel that it may do justice to your types of music, being just slightly dark, though they are very comfortable. I, personally, do not like the eggo fit of the eggo HD590s, and I don't know what the pads are like on the ATH A900.

you haven't said what type of mids and highs you like.

when is your next vacation, and are you going abroad? it may provide an opportunity to audition headphones. isn't there other head-fi members in Sweden?

Perhaps if you put up Swedish franc prices, we'd get a better idea of the comparative "worth" of the above headphones. what does a SR80 go for in Sweden? (SR80 go for about US$100).

I voted for other since I am either not familiar with, or don't recommend the cans you have listed. For you a set of Beyer 770s would give tons of bass and good overall sound. You also would do well with several other good sets of cans: Sennheiser 600s or 580s, Audio-Technica W1000 or A900, etc. Your budget and cost where you live will make your choices a little more limited, but without hearing these headphones it makes a purchase much more difficult.

Lou,

I must have funny ears or something. i even find that my dt831 causes the pad to touch my ears (they must be just a little too small or a little to stout), while i can wear the k501 for hours without discomfort. the philips 910 did the same thing as the hd570 and hd590 - it just felt like a weird fit. and don't get me started on Grados.

when my right ear starts to hurt, i have to remove my computer glasses. (so yes, the problem is the computer glasses and not the headphones, but even without the glasses, the egg shaped headphones are irritating).

and no, you are going by a brand name, ie Eggo D66, while i am going by an egg / ear shape. i have nothing against the D66 per se.

HI: I understand. I am trying to have AT in JAPAN make a new Eggo like headphone that will have the D.A.D.S. system in them and if they do it they might be a little bigger. I named them the D.A.D.S. O'S

I don't have any AT headphones in the poll because they are almost not availible in Sweden. Not the good models...
I am not going abroad anytime soon..maybe Germany and I know I can find a lot of cheap headphones there from senn, akg and beyer...but I can also order them with pretty cheap shipping prices...With the highs and mids...I like good and pretty sharp highs but they should also be a little round...I like good mids too..I like a good overall sound...I want them to be good allround but also fun to listen too...I know that for example HD600 would be a good allrounder but I think they are a bit boring....

As for headphone prices I can list them aprox. here...

Hd590: 230 USD ( I can get a lot them cheaper though from germany, for about 140 USD)
K501: 230 USD (about 140 USD in germany)
SR125: 207 USD (cheapest price)
SR225: 276 USD (cheapest price)
SR325: 391 USD (cheapest price)
MDR-F1: 250 USD
CD2000: 288 USD
DT880: 230 USD from Germany w.o. shipping (If I order them)
DT931: 160 USD w.o. shipping from Germany..
