get a 9volt battery and connect one wire to the earth and another to one channel, see if that works.
 
But if their damaged they should accept that, who did you buy them from?

I wasn't sure a 9 volt would work. But if you can find more dc volt battery it might, like a car battery maybe lol

I know nothing about that store, a good store has a good return policy. Plenty of places take back items for any reason. The only thing I have tried to return in the way of headphones were to Guitar Center, they wouldn't take back my Shure SE215 since they were IEM's and its for sanitary reasons.
