How well does the DAC1 drive the 340's? I will tell you.

I had low expectations. Taking that into consideration I'd say the DAC1 does a surprisingly good job with the 340's. It loud enough with the volume on full

But you can still tell its underpowered. Everything seems forced to me, like straining & begging for more juice.. The sound is dark & muffled IMO..Not sure if its just the 340's or the lack of juice.. The 340's are a weird phone to describe. Leaves me scratching my head. Not sure what to make of it.. The mids are very front & center..Seems to steal the spotlight.. They remind me of my 650's under amped.. If they scale just as well or better I'm sure they will be somthing to be hold.. I'd like to get them balanced so I can use the calibrated option on my DAC1..Definate boost in juice..

& also the mods I'll have Alex do..I'm very untechy..Unless there are VERY simple mods I can perform. You really have to build a system around these headphones.. They sound very dynamic to me..When will the other half kick in? I expected better transparency..How do you tighten the elastic band? & these things would make for a great neck exercise..

Mine are the bass light version.. & I don't find the bass bad at all..Could be more of it, but doesn't take anything away from the music.. Feeling the bass impact though..Snappy..
