How well do RS-1 hold their value?

Well, I am in the market for an upgrade from an SR80 and I know I will eventually end up at the RS-1.

I figure it will be cheaper to just skip there right away. If i do purchase them and then decide it was stupid or a poorly timed purchase would i still be able to sell them for close to what I bought them for, if they are in like new condition?

Alternatives im looking at are the SR225, SR325i, AKG 701, Beyerdynamics Dt880, and also open to other suggestions.

Alright thanks. This is a huge decision to fork over 600 considering I have no job and most of my money would be gone.

No I am not a bum, I am a high school student.

Extremely well, just as most grados do. Used in perfect condition generally go for $550 shipped and good/less than perfect condition a little bit less.

Nope, actually much smarter to buy used. Just check the condition and the user's feedback. I rarely ever buy new headphones.

Why do I ask these questions? They only make me more confused. Maybe I should just go half way and let my next pair after these be the RS1. Maybe I should just get a 225, 325i, k701, hd650 or Beyer 880?

May be this old thread is what you are looking for? I remember commenting about RS-1 vs RS-2 plus many other Grados in that thread.

I am in the same boat as you but I am currently using 225's and wanting more. I have posted a thread to ask some RS1 owners if they feel if it's worth the jump in the Grado line. I haven't tried the 80's, I just went with the 225's as my first Grado. I am happy though but just like many people on this forum; always looking to reach an aural nirvana.

If you want the RS-1's then camp out on the For Sale Forum and buy a nice used pair.

Audiogon just had a pair for $450 and you should be able to get a nice pair in the For Sale Forum for $500-$550. They will always be worth $500-$550 unless you drop them in a Hot Tub.

They Rock I keep coming back to them and have 5 or 6 pair so far.

Alright thanks. I think I may just go with some 225s until i can snag one off the for sale forum or convince my parents it should be a reward for having such a good grade card this quarter

Edit: I give in, I will find a pair of RS-1s. Or will just buy new

IMO, rs1 will be the most greatest phone as k1000 after few years. it greater than EH90 on pop music----it is enough.

If you have the funds for a good condition used pair of RS1, go for it, it's basically a no-brainer.
