In another thread, some lucky sole has both a Hugo2 AND an AK SP1000. In his experience, the Hugo 2 sounds better with the SP1000 as a source than an Iphone or even a Fios as a source. Why would that be, assuming a digital out from the source?

First, of course, I meant soul, not sole. :confounded: That make sense for the iPhone, but why does the SP1000 sound better than Fios if both are using digital outs?

USB carries electrical noises from phone's LTE and CPU coil whine where as SP1000 have a cleaner signal due to better isolated audio circuitry

That makes sense. Would the same reasoning apply to the FIOS? The SP1000 has better audio circuitry, so better sound? Of course, not too many people are going to combine an SP1000 with the Hugo 2, but if you want a portable source, it is an issue.

^ AFAIK FIOS is immune to electrical noises except for jitter and optical quality. You will get a better sound using a good quality toslink
