How to use optical in on E-MU 0404 (non-usb) ?

Hi guys and gals..

I've tried a few times to do a search for threads about this, but I couldn't find any, so please don't yell at me if there is.

I'm trying to record a few sounds from my stationary Sony Minidisc Deck (MDS-JB930). I have it hooked up with the optical input on the soundcard. After that I've spent a few hours trying to get things working in E-MU PatchMix DSP. But I cannot get the signal in.
Anyone know what settings are necessary to get things working?

When you make a new session, after you select the template, the next question it asks where you can select internal/external clock, etc, look at the top and there should be another tab called "I/O", click on that and make sure it's set to optical.
