I'm looking to use a very High End Headphone for multiple things like (Music Production, Mixing, Listening, & Gaming). I've already found the amp I wanted to use with the headphone. (HeadRoom Ultra Desktop Amp). 
 
But I also want to know since, the amp has optical does it mean that I could use it in combination with the HD 800's to my ps3? One may argue, I don't need those pricey headphones for gaming. But It wouldn't be the only thing I'm using them for, just thought it would be convenient to use them with everything if it is possible to save money.
 
Also does anyone know if the "HeadRoom Ultra Desktop Amp" supports surround with 5.1 or greater? Specs doesn't list anything about it.

I use a Fiio E17 between my PS2 and LCD2 'phones ... The E17 accepts optical, and I use a Grado 1/8 - 1/4" adapter to the phones.
 
Of course that's for stereo -- I don't know about the 5.1 part.
