I am no pc genius but can find no programs for on board audio, Dell service pack 2, home edition running xp. Is it a physical dismantling inside the housing? Auzentech recomends this before installing the X Meridian. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Just go into Sounds in the Control Panel and disable it.

Sounds and Audio Devices in the control panel under Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices

Hardware tab

Select the hardware you want to disable and click the Properties button

Disable via the drop down at the bottom

or you can go in to the bios (usualy by pressing del or alt something at post) go in to integrated devices and disable AC97 audio, i would suggest you consult with the motherboard documentation first, i suspect dell uses custom bioses,
