Ah, I almost bid on that one. Compared to yesterday, you got a nice 50% discount. It's definitely a sextet unless the seller put up a misleading picture. Don't worry about the text description, lots of ebay sellers mess up the sextet info. You'd have to go through the sextet thread to figure out which production it is though.

It's still on the expensive side for a Sextett.

I think I paid about the same for mine. I was not part of team 30-year-mortgage at the time so it wasn't so bad.

It's never been in question whether it's a sextett - it is. Silver rings are only on the sextett model of the k240 (and on the k260 and k340 and probably some others - but no other version of the k240).

The question is what version sextett - you have to see the baffle to know. With some major image enhancement you might be able to find some orange-ish pixels in the grille area on one of the pictures, but, just pull the earpads off it when it gets there and compare it to the identification info we've got.

Fitz says that he's seen broken grilles from trying to get them off of sextetts, so be careful taking it of for cleaning if you do, but i personally had no trouble getting the grilles off of either of my sextetts. My guess is that the trick is to pry gently around the edge with a mediocre tool (like your thumbnail) even though it will seem as though you're making no progress until you've gone around the whole grille maybe two or three times. In essence, you have to just worry it out - it you go in with too much leverage you'll break it.
