Want to give some pads a good washing. How do I remove the pads on my HD580s?

Is there a way to remove that headband cushion too?

Thanks

tried looking for a thread but couldn't find it

Just pull on them.

The headband padding is more tricky to get off, but I managed to get them off by some forceful pulling too. Try and get the ends out first.

For the HD-5X5 headphones, you just pull on them. The first time, I was very scared that I was going to rip the pads, but they're really quite strong. You've got to be firm with them, and pull them directly up.

Of course, that's for the 5X5s. I have no idea about the 580.

pretty much the same thing
hold the pad with two fingers, one on each side of the pad
and pull
it will *pop*

they are connected to a plastic ring which snaps into the cup. pull on them a little until u can get a finger under the ring and pop them out

i just sewed up the seams and washed the pads on some hd545's i got here in trade

Next step is to learn how to take the enclosures apart.

It's very easy once you figure out how. Requires absolutely no tools at all.
