My main question is this: How would I reterminate my RCA headphone out to Balanced 2x XLR plugs? Would that require an entire rewiring or would I just have to unsolder the 1/4 inch jack and split it for the XLR?

I did a search but I have horrible luck finding threads, so any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

Well for starters, I think the way your post is worded makes it very unclear what you want to do.

I am assuming that you have a headphone that currently terminates to a 1/4" plug, and you would like it to terminate in dual 3-pin XLRs.

If this is the case, it's easy to re-terminate if your headphone cable has four conductors.  You would know when you chop your 1/4" plug; there would be four wires going into the plug barrel, or there would be three.  Having a multimeter to help you sort this out (especially when it's time to make your connections) would make the process so much easier.  To oversimplify, if it's a four-conductor cable you really would just split them and make your XLR connections.

If in fact you have three conductors in your cable, you need to recable the headphones.  You'd need two conductors for each stereo channel (+ and -), and from there it should be really easy to figure out which connection needs to go where.

Good luck.
