Hi all, very newbie question, I recently ordered some headphones to try out and decide which ones I liked the most. Here are the headphones:
Sennheiser HD650
HIFIMAN HE400i
Beyer DT990
My plan is to return the ones I do not like as much, hopefully keeping one pair that I settle on. I also purchased a JDS Atom Amp to power these. I am very new to this, and have been doing some reading about what the best way to configure volumes and such, here is my current thinking from that reading:
It seems most people say to try and keep software volumes at 100, and try to adjust at the very end of the chain (which I assume would be the amp in my situation).
My concern is:
I have not bought a DAC yet and will just be running straight into a 3.5mm jack into my motherboard. I assume I will use a RCA to 3.5mm male and come from the amp straight into my headphone in jack on the motherboard. Is this the correct way to configure? IF I add a DAC to the mix, what would the chain of devices be then?
