I was wondering if anyone knew, (and could tell me) how to change a 9 volt wal wart so that I could power multi 9 volt devices. I've built a plug that would enable me to run 5 off of one wart but when everything is everything seems to be not getting enough power. Lights dim sound is fuzzy etc... I'm trying to run a few guitar pedals and my head amp off the same wart @ my computer for recoring etc...

Any thoughts?

There really aren't any mods you could reasonably do to a wallwart. If your's doesn't cut it, get a bigger one, ore use more of them. Or build your own supply. Transformer, rectifier, reservoir cap, there you go. How much current do you need?

Hmm. This question gets my brain ponderng (or maybe it's the coffee on an empty stomach). I suppose IF the total VA requirements were subsbantially less than the wall-wart is rated for and IF the voltage requirements are lower than the 9 volts you mentioned you could use a (possibly two stage) step down switcher.

From theory back to reality, you'll probably be disappionted with the mod-wart's performance. If outlet space is at a premium for your gadgets, try a computer power supply- you'll have power to burn and you can hang some linear regulation off that to kill the switching noise.
