So I have a pair of audio technica a700 headphones,. The cable is great, but the only problem is that the cable is quite long.
 
I was wondering if there was something on the market that could retract the cable to a smaller size, or are twist ties my only option?

On my desktop, I use a spindle from blank cds.  I wrap the cables loosely around that, leaving enough on one end to reach the amp, then enough on the other to wear comfortably.  I have to untangle things occasionally, but it allows me to keep 2-3 headphones on the go on my desk.

I do something similar except I cut two notches on either side of the spindle cover for the cables and snap it closed.

You can use anything handy to help manage the cable.  Good suggestions thus far.  I prefer velcro (hook & loop) cable ties.

Although I just use rubber bands to shorten the cords a lot of people use these.
