Hi guys,
I have a Xin Super Micro III and the copper strip in the battery compartment broke (posive terminal). There is not much room in there for anything other than the AAA battery and the original copper strip, which is now cracked in half.

I hate to return it for repairs if I can fix it myself, but I'm hurting for ideas other than using a piece of foil crimped to the remaining stub of copper strip.

I tried posting in the amp forum and in the Xin forum, but so far aluminum foil is the best answer I've gotten.

Any suggestions appreciated. If none, I'll just try the foil thing or return it to Xin and wait forever for it to come back to me. I just don't want to part with it that long--it's an amazing little amp for an I-pod Nano. The sound quality difference is astounding for such a small device.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Why dont you email Xin, ask him directly for advice. Other than that, why not get a piece of copper sheet metal, and cut a piece to fit. I am not sure what this amp is like, so I cant advise any further.

Thanks Cetoole; Xin is notorious for making nice amps but is not the most responsive guy in the world when it comes to replying to e-mails, or responding to inquiries on his own forum.

Anyway, I fixed it. I tore apart and old flashlight and took out one of the copper battery contacts. I clipped it , doubled it over, and wedged it behind the broken contact in the Xin. Works like a charm.

Here's a link with a picture of the amp; I tried to upload it but the forum is a little cranky today:

He may be well known for being slow, but he is also well known for taking care of his customers after the fact even if the service is a bit slow.
