I just bout a set of HD595 for my 20g iPod. After hours of reading this site, I found out that I need an amplifier for a better 'experience'.

Then, I'm thinking, what about an amp'd DAP? It seems like the Kenwood and JVC are amp'd (digitally).

For those who own those amp'd DAP, are they better than iPod or Zune? Are you using amp even with those amp'd DAP?

Thanks.

So, getting another DAP (Kenwood or JVC) would not make as difference as an external amp, right?

Thanks.

I imagine they would since each player will have different sound, to start with. However it's a question of how many DAPs you want to live with. If you are happy with the iPod (and don't want to have more than one player at hand), getting an external amp is a good way of upgrading your sound. Of course you can also send the iPod to be iModded (which should really boost performance) but it comes at a steep price.

Cheers!

If you are strictly talking SQ then yes, the Kenwood is better than iPod or Zune SQ wise.

No, I am not using an external amp.

The best way to enjoy your equipment more is to get better music. (I use HD590s with my iPod.)

The best way to enjoy your iPod is to quit browsing anything related to audio equipment such as Head-fi, and of course get better music like bigshot said.

You might also want to consider reading pro-iPod sites, and tell yourself "my, what a nice player I have here," and focus more on latest iPod related accessories.

How true. New CDs never failed to renew my passion for music. I make a point to purchase at least 4 CDs every month. The most I have spent is 20 CDs in two weeks

Listening to the same rig (no matter how good they are) will wear the listener down
