I find my Senhneiser HD595s quite
a bit pressing on both sides of
my head/ears and therefore fatiguing.
How to decrease this pressure?

It's not the pressure of the head band on my head's top.
Should I stretch the headband? Put some books in between for many hours?
I am afraid that I can either break the headband or deform it so that it
will be too loose!

Compared to my Beyerdynamic DT880s, the HD595s are a bit less comfortable
mainly due to this pressure.
The pressure of the HD595s is 3.2 N (if I remeber correctly)
and of the DT880s is only 2.7 N.

See you with less pressing HD595s,

I don't hava a camera right now, so this crude paint drawing will have to do:

I saw some other guy post pictures of this kind of setup, and it is what I do. I put a wide, thin book underneath my lamp, and my 595's became nicely stretched out while sitting on top of the book like that. I've been leaving them like this for two weeks, and they still provide enough pressure to keep itself secured to my head.

For a while I was being stingy with how far I extended the L and R sides of the headphones. Now, I've got close to an inch and a half of exposed headband. They have alot less clamp now. Dont be afraid to make use of the headband adjustment thingy is what Im trying to say I guess.

I know a guy who just bent then with his hands, but he admitted that it was a little scarry. Personally I like the book idea best. Slow and controlleld is the way to do it.

Yeah, I was afraid of streching
the headband too much. Thanks for
the beautiful drawing and the link to
the another post with a picture.

I got my HD 595s from Santa. The burning-in proces for them lasted 1,250+ hours (continously).
In the meantime I used them thru the Valentine Day every day for, say, 3 hours. They did not loosen up.
I do not have a big head or ears. I'll apply the book scenario to my babies.

As I see it,

the size of the book should be slightly bigger than the size of my head.,
and not, say 2 inches wider!

On another matter. On Valentine Day my Beyer DT880s arrived.
Since then I've been burning them in every day.

The Sennheiser HD595s are really fabulous, easy to drive, but a bit less comfortable than the DT880s.

Stretching out my babies,

You're in trouble... once you get used to DT880s, most headphones become distinctly uncomfortable in comparison.
