Are either one of these free?
Any limitations I should know about?

videora is good, especially for the price (free, with ads) -- I have used it with good results.

I have Nero 7, and it also works very well. If you own Nero anyway, this is probably the best bet.

Total Video Converter 3.1.

Works quickly and efficiently, "out of the box", and has presets for mobile devices like my Zune and the iPod. Supports and takes advantage of multiple core processors.
