Justifying spending all this money on headphones. It's so damn hard for me. I just ordered a pair of AD900's. I've wanted them for the longest time and I finally saved up enough to buy them so I did. I should feel happy. But I can't help but think of all the other uses for that money I spent. HELP ME FEEL NOT SO CRAPPY!
what on earth is this new theme from head-fi... strange i want the old theme back..
anyway back on topic... enjoy the AD900 its pretty good. Someone as you know just want good sound, clear, soundstage, and bass, for me more of practical side... spend on TF10 and a closed fullsize headphone so the Ultrasone Pro 750. it just happened because i need it Eventually i'll get those mid-high range anyway so why not just go for it at first then would last me way longer
And it helps if you do have money to spend on them in your budget Now im looking for my 3rd pair of open headphones...
and of course there are people here who buys STAX systems even more high end premium and multiple headphones.. as always you can try to sell them if you dont need them to fund your other high end purchases
I don't think that it is about justification most of the time. I spend a lot of money on audio equipment, but I never have problems with it. I listen to music for 2-4 hours a day exclusively and more when I am doing work on my computer an the such. That is 600-1000 hours/ year. I have no problem paying $2 per hour for how much enjoyment I get out of my phones. That is like a cup of coffee per day. I would certainly say that it is worth it. And that is only for one year. If you buy a $2000 set up that you are happy with, you can enjoy it for years without upgrading at all, reducing avg costs even further. Buying things like this is just somewhat scary because the investment is all upfront.

Also true, though I stand by what I said about phones not being expensive in the long run if you stop upgrading.
This could be applied to a lot of things we buy. Video games, cars, computers, TVs, vacations to faraway places, anything musical, books, art, cable service, internet service, the list just goes on. In a day and age when almost everything we buy is technically a luxury item, it is sometimes good to ask "Is this actually worth it to me?" Wait until you get the cans, listen, then decide. I bet you'll end up staying in the hobby.
My brother goes on expensive vacations all over the world but otherwise is a spendthrift. I on the other hand would rather splurge on something like headphones and a luxury car and nice house that I can USE EVERYDAY. An expensive vacation is over and only a memory; I'd rather spend my money on something I can enjoy over and over again and get my money's worth. It just depends on your own judgement and what makes YOU happy.

i think the problem is that you've only ordered them, and not got them yet
