Doesn't that just make you feel old?

Well, I don't know about that. I do take about an hour to charge in the morning before I'm at my best but once I get there I'll be smooth and sweet and won't be throwing too many punches. I'll never be forgiving to bad recordings though.

It's about time we got you some new drivers and give you a recabling. All going well it should open up your highs and make you more agreeable.

My HD420SLs are older than me. I'm not sure if this should worry me or not!

my dt-302 may be as old as 1974. I'd have to double-check the list but they're likely the oldest i have.

(beyerdynamic hd414 clone, 600ohm, hd414 pads fit)

Edit: My Pro4AA might be older but there's no way to tell because they made them the same way for so long.

Like a lot of people, my main headphones are AKG 340s. They have been modified by Larry @ Headphile. I'm guessing that mine are the midrange version as they have the magic there, while having satisfactory but not an overabundance of bass. I haven't head another headphone yet that I felt were better enough for me to spend the difference to get them. I also have a backup pair whose only reason to exist are to provide parts if any fail in my main pair.

I have a set of Stax electret headphones from around 1976 or so. They don't plug into a headphone jack at all, but came with their own box that takes the full output of the power amp and massages it for the 'phones.

It was with those 'phones that I first discovered all the little details in my vinyl albums that my Grado phono cartridge could find.

Ah, those were the days....

You should dust 'em off and offer 'em for sale here - you'd be amazed how much people will pay to join Team Vintage Stax or even just Team Electret.

fully functional, people are paying up to $100 for an SR-44 or SR-34 kit. Which is silly when a rube like me can get an SR-X III + SRD-7 for $84 on ebay with nothing but a lot of patience and a very aggressive search & snipe robot.

I have several old 'phones.
* 2 pair SR-X/MK3's from the mid-1970's.
* 2 pair SR-Lambda Pro's from the late 1980's (one dated 1988).

All of which are in fully working condition.

For better or worse I just picked up a pair of vintage Sansui MODEL SS-2 from the bay (late '70s I think) for $23 shipped to Canada. They'll probably sound like junk but I bought them mainly for nostalgia purposes. Since we're on the topic of old school phones, anyone know how much Sansui SS-100 cost these days in decent condition or how they sound? I'm sort of interested in getting a pair.
